Let me tell you a Secret

After a month at home in my sleepy, wintry little town, I made a trip up to Dublin before I head away next week, (did you know that I’m going away on Erasmus? Don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet..!) I’m heading home today, but at the moment I’m in my favourite little coffee shop in the Liberties, waiting for my friends to finish their lecture (so strange that I won’t be in class with them this semester!) before we go for lunch. But while I’m here, I thought I’d tell you about a secret I learnt in January.

My Favourite Books from 2017

We’re in December, which also means we are in the final month of this years reading.

Here are some of my book highlights of 2017!

New Favourite author:

Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty. So you know how I was obsessed with Big Little Lies back in April? Well the TV show was originally a book written by Liane Moriarty who has quite a collection of books under her belt. My friend picked Truly Madly Guilty in a bookshop and lent it to me once she was finished. Moriarty’s central theme of her books seems to be mystery and just like Big Little Lies, this book isn’t any different. Putting the plot to one side, her characters are captivating and kept me reading until the very end. In the new year I plan on reading more by her.

How I read 29 books in a year

Another year another book challenge done and dusted.

Every year I set myself the challenge to read as many books as I can, I usually aim for fifty though I’m yet to actually reach that amount!

This year I managed 29 which I’m fairly happy with. I do the challenge for the obvious reason that I love reading, but it is also because I can be super competitive; I’m terrible at sports so I think this is my way to substitute for that.

Instead of giving you a review of every book I read I thought I’d keep it brief and just tell you the highlights.

Book Update 2.0

For the past three years I’ve taken part in the Goodreads Book Challenge. This year I once again challenged myself to read 50 books. So far I’ve read 13 books this year, I’m five books behind but hopefully I’ll be able to catch up (I’m actually quite a slow reader!)

I thought for this blog I’d do a quick round up of my favourite books I’ve read so far this year. I haven’t found many books that I’ve fallen in love, but there has been a few exceptional ones.

Books I read in 2015

During the year I’ve kept my blog up to date with my Goodreads book challenge and my attempt to read 50 books.

(You can find them HERE and HERE)

2015 is coming to a close and I’ve read 34 out of 50 books (I’m currently on my 35th book- All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, which is a fantastic read).

Even though I didn’t manage to complete the challenge, I’m still really pleased with the amount I managed.

My favourite books from 2015 have been:

Book Update

Hey there!

In January I blogged about how I was taking part in the Goodreads Book Challenge, that I was challenging myself to read 50 books this year. It’s been a while since that blog, so I thought an update was long overdue!

My Goodreads Book Challenge 2015

 Hey there!

If you don’t already know, I’m a book worm. So when I came across this website called Goodreads it was natural that i was going to fall in love with it.

Basically you sign up and do a quick assessment and tell them the kind of books you read, they then use your results and tell you what book you might like to read next. You can also keep progress of the books you’re reading at the moment and follow friends and see what they’re reading as well.
